2025 Word of the Year & the View from the Studio…

Writer's picture: Hannah KateHannah Kate

Today the view is glorious! The birds in the garden are basking in the bright winter sunshine, encouraging me outside. It’s colder than it looks though.

My “View from the Studio” posts were first created for and shared with my Patrons and were one of my favourite ways of keeping them in the loop with my musings and thought processes on any particular day. It was always the plan to resurrect them and include them as part of the Blog here, so here’s my first nod towards that happening.

Firstly though, as it’s already February, I’d like to share my 2025 Word of the Year with you. Although, in true Hannah style, I have two words and one sentence.

Scrabble tiles spell "KEEP THINGS SIMPLE" on a white background, conveying a minimalist message.

My words, chosen to guide me through the busy-ness of running a small business and attempting to maintain that elusive work-life balance, are: Simplify and Focus.

I will be focusing on a few goals this year and simplifying my schedule to cut-out the unnecessary noise is the best way for me to achieve them. I’ll share more about those 2025 goals in a future article.

My sentence of the year is to simply: Be Braver.

An instruction and reminder rolled into one two-word mantra.

I’ve shrunk quite a lot over the past few years, my confidence knocked and anxiety keeping me small and very much in a box I don’t want to remain in. So, I’m taking steps each month to do things that I’d usually shy away from. Wish me luck!

On that note, I have Big News!

Phil and I are relocating to a new city, which means I’m now in the midst of packing up the house and the studio while trying to keep the Hannah Kate Makes train on the track. It’s a bit of a juggling act, so please bear with me if I’m not as visible on social media as usual!

We’re heading up to Lincoln, a beautiful city with lots of life to explore and new adventures to be had. It’ll be the furthest north I’ve ever lived (being a London girl), but I’ve been reliably informed that it’s located in the East Midlands and not actually The North. Hmmm.

As we get draw closer to moving day, I will have to temporarily close both my Faire shop and Etsy shop as stock will be packed away and inaccessible.

If you are a stockist, please be aware that my wholesale catalogue on Faire will be closed from Friday 14th February 2025.

For Etsy shop customers, my store will be closed from 23rd February 2025.

I will open both again once we’re settled and unpacked and able to fulfil your orders. I expect this to be mid to late March.

For those of you who have been patiently waiting for my commission order book to re-open, that will also happen in mid to late March.

Please remember to sign-up to The Spooky List (you can find the form below) to be the first to hear all updates.

Until next time...
